The new address. The service-start date. The bin marked “coffee first.” A Tomball move feels more manageable when the little practical jobs have a place to live. Start here, then pack the things that make a place yours.
STRAIGHT TO THE USEFUL STUFF
01 / BEFORE THE FIRST BIN
YOUR MOVE IN TOMBALL. A LITTLE CLEARER.
For a home served by City of Tomball utilities, account setup is also a chance to check how the practical services at the new place will work.
Coordinate the old and new accounts.
Tomball’s Customer Service and Utility Billing department handles new-account setup and service termination. For an address it serves, use that department’s current instructions to arrange the start at the new place and the end at the old one.
Keep those dates separate on your checklist. Leaving one address does not automatically close the account, and the new place needs its own confirmed setup. Ask the department about the requirements that apply to your property.
Finish the whole application.
The city’s linked residential utility application asks for an intended service-start date, identification and information across both pages. Review the garbage and recycling choices on the second page, too.
Use the current form rather than an old saved copy, and confirm any deposit and processing requirements directly. Keep the submitted information and confirmation accessible while you pack. Do not put essential account paperwork in a bin you plan to open last.
Plan the pickup before you fill the first bin.
Set aside a place where empty bins can gather after unpacking without blocking your normal route through the home. Keep your count by size as rooms get finished, and remove your removable labels when they are no longer needed.
For your Frogbox handoff, an authorized collector must physically receive the equipment. Simply leaving it outside does not complete the return. Confirm access and the collection arrangement rather than assuming proximity to Hockley means a quicker or unattended pickup.
02 / BOTH ENDS OF THE MOVE
TWO ADDRESSES. TWO SEPARATE CHECKS.
Houston-area coverage is measured from the Hockley origin. Each delivery and pickup address must independently be within 75 road miles. A city name or ZIP code alone does not confirm eligibility.
Road miles follow the driving route, not a straight line. This is not the distance between your old home and your new one.
First 15 miles
No distance charge for the first 15 road miles of each leg.
After 15 miles
$2 per road mile beyond 15, calculated separately for delivery and pickup.
Standard transport
Each leg costs $25 for 1–30 bins, $30 for 31–75, or $35 for 76–150. Delivery and pickup are both included in calculator and preset totals.
A distance-charge allowance is not a delivery-fee waiver. The calculator combines rental, additional weeks and standard transport. Extra distance, applicable access fees and tax are additional. Read the distance details and the transport-rate explanation.
03 / PACK YOUR ACTUAL LIFE
YOUR STUFF. YOUR MIX.
A staged move starts with a useful order. Pack the things you rarely use first and keep a small group for the first night. Split dense books and kitchen items into comfortable Small-bin loads; leave Large for the roomier stuff. Count belongings, not just rooms.
$119 minimum for one week with standard delivery and pickup. Choose 1–150 bins, Large, Small or both. The base rates use everyday volume pricing, with a $69 first-week rental minimum. Additional-week rates plus extra distance, applicable access fees and tax are additional. Dollies are coming soon at $20 each for the first week. There is no XL bin.
MOVING BOXES / CHOOSE YOUR FIT
CARDBOARD OR REUSABLE?
For a Tomball move, decide which belongings need to stay accessible while utility accounts and key handovers are being sorted. Frogbox rents reusable moving bins rather than selling cardboard boxes. Cardboard you purchase is yours to keep; rental bins need to be ready for return on the agreed schedule. Choose based on your packing timeline and storage needs, not an assumed price advantage. Keep service confirmations, keys and everyday essentials outside the general packing pile whichever box option you choose.
Where do I arrange City of Tomball utility service?
For an address served by the city, start with Tomball Customer Service and Utility Billing. The department provides new-account and termination information. Confirm that it serves the exact property before using its application.
What is easy to miss on Tomball’s utility application?
The second page includes garbage and recycling choices. Review both pages, the identification requirements and the intended service-start date. Check the current official form for any deposit or processing requirements.
Does being near Hockley make every Tomball delivery free?
No. A nearby city name does not establish the route mileage or waive service fees. Each leg is assessed independently. The first 15 road miles have no distance charge, then $2 per road mile applies, up to the 75-road-mile service limit for each address.
Can I leave empty bins outside and call the pickup done?
Get the empty, unnested bins ready and follow the agreed pickup instructions. Confirm the handoff arrangements rather than assuming unattended collection is arranged.
